Anita Charney Harris 1921-2018

1979 Wind Challenge Artist

Anita Charney Harris was born in Chicago, IL, the daughter of immigrant parents, and spent her childhood and adult years in Philadelphia, PA.  She initially studied at the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts) and later at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and New School of Social Research in New York. Her professional career began in a silk screen house where she received her first exposure to the world of color. Her works are part of many collections, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Allentown Art Museum, Bryn Mawr College, the first Ronald McDonald House, the private collections of two renowned artists, Will Barnet and Louise Bourgeois, and the collections of a number of non-for-profit institutions and corporations.  She achieved recognition in the National Association of Women Artists, Who’s Who in American Art, Directory of Distinguished Americans, and Who’s Who in American Women.
