1994 Wind Challenge Artist
Mary Murphy earned a BA in English/Writing from Barnard College, an MFA from Tyler School of Art, and an MA in Art & Education from Teachers College at Columbia University. She also studied at Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture and The New York Studio School.
Murphy is the recipient of an NEA Fellowship in Painting, a PA State Council on the Arts
Fellowship in Painting, several SOS Grants, a Fleisher Challenge Grant, and a
Rauschenberg Emergency Grant. Murphy has won many awards and grants including the Bader Fund Grant, the Manifest Grand Jury Prize, and was an artist in residence at the Brooklyn Art Cluster National Residency Program and at Virginia Center for
the Creative Arts.
