OUR MISSION
The Dina Wind Art Foundation empowers living artists, builds community, and supports arts education through innovative programs, exhibitions, strategic partnerships, and creative philanthropy. Rooted in Philadelphia’s vibrant cultural landscape, the Foundation works with artists and institutions to expand access to the arts and uplift underrepresented voices. From grants and exhibitions to public programs and student outreach, the Foundation believes in the Power of Art to spark change, celebrate diversity, and shape a more just, sustainable future.
At the core of our mission is the legacy of Dina Wind (1938–2014)—a visionary sculptor, arts advocate, and environmentalist. Known for her bold, abstract works made from salvaged industrial materials, Dina was a “fierce lady welder” who defied gender norms and embraced sustainability long before upcycling became mainstream. She called her work “drawing in space,” transforming scrap into lyrical, large-scale sculpture. Her work is held in major collections including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, PAFA, Woodmere, Grounds for Sculpture, the West Collection and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Beyond the studio, Dina was a passionate civic leader and board member for organizations including Fleisher Art Memorial, Relache New Music Ensemble, the Arts + Business Council, and Philadelphia Sculptors—always advocating for access, education, and artistic freedom.
Through every initiative, the Dina Wind Art Foundation carries her spirit forward—igniting creativity, advancing equity, and inspiring the next generation of artists and art lovers committed to making a difference.
