Two of Dina's works formerly in other collections are now on display in our South Philly studio ~
- Wheelbarrow
This sculpture was first exhibited at Veridian Gallery, NYC in Dina's 1992 solo exhibition "Metal Sculpture/Recent Work". From there it was acquired by John Hechinger Sr., founder of an eponymous chain of hardware stores. The Hechinger Collection ultimately numbered over 400 works of tool and hardware-themed art by artists including Berenice Abbott, Arman, Jim Dine, Walker Evans, Jacob Lawrence, Fernand Léger, and Claes Oldenburg.
Recently the collection was largely disbursed at auction, and Wheelbarrow was graciously returned to the Dina Wind Foundation where this unique piece of art history will begin its next chapter~
2. Jewel #3
This piece was shown at Pleiades Gallery in NYC, as part of Dina's solo exhibition "Dina Wind Metal Sculpture" in 1986. Recently, we discovered the piece up for auction at Millea Bros in New Jersey and re-homed it here at the foundation.
Want to see these works in person? Join us at one of our montly studio tours for a fun morning of art, jewelry, and community ~
