"The photocopy series was a way to get even more distance from the reality of a flower. Taking away the three dimensionality of the silk flower is like removing the last thread of deception where they’re effort at deception seems the most apparent. Using a photocopy machine initially started because I was working at the PMA and would periodically be sent to the deep basement to make and fold copies of a daily visitor handout. That copier made exquisite color copies when it didn’t jam and I’d bring various silk flowers with me to get portraits made."
