The work was acquired in 2017 for the permanent collection of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. "Search for an Anchor (Port and Starboard)" 1997, is one of Dina Wind's signature 'double brooches'. The piece was first shown at the time of its creation at Nexus Gallery in Philadelphia, and then more recently at Bridgette Mayer Gallery in the Dina Wind Transformations show of 2015.
PAFA's Curator of Contemporary Art, Jodi Throckmorton, stated, "We are very grateful to add such an important work by Dina Wind to our permanent collection. Dina's keen eye for color and texture, as well as her honest approach to materials, is evident in her lyrical sculptures made from discarded metal.
