2002 Wind Challenge Artist
Karen Stone earned a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA from the University of Colorado. Stone brought her passion and obsession for collecting to focus in her installation at Fleisher titled "IMPACT". This installation was a labyrinth of discarded shoe soles and heels blurring the boundaries between the floors and walls, defining direct and indirect pathways for one to journey through space. Like stone mazes worn with age, one can read the wear patterns to form mental stories from these very personal artifacts.
